Alexander A. Josey was born c.1910 in Poole, Dorset, where he attended South Road School. He resurrected the Poole Wheelers Club and was its Vice-President. He worked as a journalist on the Poole Herald and the Bournemouth Times before moving to become assistant editor of Cycling under H. H. England, who was editor.
